Objectives of Dominica Medical Professionals (DMP)
"Collecting and shipping medical supplies has been a major focus of concerned Dominicans and their organizations worldwide. This predates the landmark Hurricane David in 1979. Since then, Raglan Riviere, Webmaster for Dominica Academy of Arts and Sciences (D.A.A.S.)has developed a robust portal which removed much of the frustration from this labor of love. This is the Friends of Princess Margaret Hospital. Everyone interested in promoting health in Dominica should utilize this unified Friends of PMH approach to channel targeted medical assistance. The entire nation is deeply grateful that you have gone out of your way to help. And remember, whatever you are donating, please try to include at least some items on the list of critical shortages.
Dominican Medical Professionals (DMP) will therefore focus its energies on stimulating the human resources.
- What are the manpower needs in the medical community on the island?
- What are the benefits and obstacles to relocating?
- Can you make a living back in Dominica?
- Do you know of any hospital, educational institution, social service organization, philanthropist or church interested in a medical mission?
- How can we arrange for you to donate your time? - A week or two, or more, at the hospital, clinic or school, while at the same time enjoy a refreshing vacation and reconnecting with your family and friends.
I have found Minister of Health Hon. Herbert Sabroache and his staff eager and efficient in accommodating all good faith offers. Nurses, Dentists, Pharmacists, Social Workers, Medical Managers/Administrators, Therapists, Psychologists, Technicians, Physicians and others: Each one of us can make a difference. Through the Internet we can coordinate our efforts and help relieve our stalwart colleagues back home.
You are not alone. Overseas DMP's like you have the same needs and concerns.
