Prodigal Posse to Promote Music & Culture
From a meeting held in Chicago on Sunday March 19th 2006, North American based Dominican artists have formed the Diaspora Band "Prodigal Posse".
From October to November 2006, the band will participate in activities celebrating Dominica's 28th independence anniversary, in Dominica the USA and Canada.
Plans also include the release three CD singles featuring solo and collaborative songs between June and October 2006. On an ongoing basis the group will work with the DAAS Arts and Culture Committee and other groups and organizations to promote Dominica's music and tourism overseas.
Six members of the group met to discuss the projects, they are Ras Mo Moses, Brian Rocque, Cleve Hurricane Jean-Jacques, Joseph "Iwa" Lambert, Gilbert "Prince La" Williams, and Nideck Adams. Other artists involved are Lazarus "Lazo" Jno. Finn, Osborne "Ifeel" Joseph and Wendy Robin.
The name "Prodigal Posse" is an expression of the artists willingness to return and give to their birth land Dominica, from which they migrated. The group hopes to facilitate a concept of fluidity allowing the participation of other musicians.
