Land Sales Business Finance, Ltd (LSBF)

Dear Members and Friends:

Here are some sample pictures of the model home in Dominica built by LSBF, Inc., a Dominican company led by principals Curtis Tonge, Francis Richards and others. The firm hopes to focus on affordable housing and homes for Diaspora Dominicans. A partnership in technology transfer and modular housing, this project was arranged by the Dominican owned law firm www.marylandattorneyatlaw.com which brought the Fermoy Company of South Carolina to Dominica to introduce Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) technology to the island and so reduce construction time and cost overruns which have bedeviled our local housing industry. Land Sales Business Finance, Ltd (LSBF) of Dominica evolved therefrom. The model home will be formally launched soon. This is a preview. (All photos are copyright LSBF, Inc.).

The house shown was built within 30 days. I will propose that LSBF introduce that technology to the DAAS membership and other Diasporans and so we remain true to our original mission: introducing technology and new techniques to our beloved country so we can remain competitive in the global marketplace. As DAAS Membership Chairperson, Bernard Hurtault, reminded us, we need to stay on point.

The housing industry is key to Dominica's recovery. During this season of political campaigning and beyond we hope that all parties will commit themselves to supporting the development efforts in energy, medical care, housing, youth development, education, art, literature, etc., that the Diaspora has promoted. On the issue of housing alone, if 10,000 homes are bought by Dominicans in the Diaspora, who are encouraged to build and maintain such homes costing an average $100,000 each, that is one billion dollars flowing into our economy. Dr. Fontaine can engage in the more complex economic calculus showing the spin-offs. In so doing, we can cease our dependence on foreign financial handouts and the interference into our local politics by foreign powers. Such a visionary undertaking should be our objective, among others.

The model may be seen on Kennedy Avenue across from Prevo Cinemall. The LSBF website should be up shortly.

Let us carry on, confident in the ability of our nation-state to overcome all obstacles.

Very best regards,
Gabriel Christian.
